Mike is the first Programme Manager for the Essex + Herts Digital Innovation Zone (DIZ). This is a place-based cross-sector, cross-border partnership that works with the private, local government, health, education and community and voluntary sectors, to maximise the opportunities for digital investment and delivery for the residents and businesses of our place. Located between London and Cambridge, and covering five districts within two counties, the DIZ focuses on work to future-proof the local economies and the delivery of innovation in health and social care in an area with a population of more than 500,000 residents and 35,000+ businesses. The work of the DIZ was recognised with the award of ‘Cross-Sector Digital Collaboration of the Year’ in the Digital Leaders #DL100 List for 2020.
Over the last year, Mike has led the cross-agency project management and delivery team of the DIZ Local Full Fibre Network (LFFN) project, working closely with partners from the health sector and infrastructure providers. The project delivered a full fibre network build out to 74 GP surgeries and primary care providers across the five districts and two CCG areas and will both relieve pressure on acute care settings and underpin the delivery of local and community health care for years to come.
